Brunswick Stew Supper

The 4th Tuesday Club meets at 11:30 AM on the fourth Tuesday of each month. The meetings usually consist of a guest speaker or entertainment and a covered dish luncheon. All neighborhood adults are invited to become a part of this group.

The 4th Tuesday Club meetings are preceded by a free blood pressure clinic. There is no obligation to stay for the meetings.

Presbyterian Women

The Rocky River Presbyterian Women Mision Statement is stated as follows: "The Presbyterian Women at Rocky River are committeed to nurturing women in their faith through Bible study and Christian friendship while supporting them in leadership development and an awareness of missions at home and around the world".

The Bible Study for 2004-2005 is "What She Said: Quotable Women in Scripture".

Rocky River women believe that we are to help others less fortunate than ourselves. Out of our total expenditures of $2,531 in 2003-2004, $1,623 was spent on worthwhile projects outside the church. Each circle also has projects to which they give their time, talents and money.

Within the church we minister to our shut-ins, college students, bereaved , provide flowers for the sanctuary, prepare the elements for communion and help to sponsor children's parties. A banquet to celebrate the relationships women enjoy - mother/daughter, sisters, friends - is held every year.

The women meet in groups called "circles" the first Tuesday of each month for Bible study and fellowship. The Morning Circle with Lavada Freeman as Moderator will meet at 10:00 a.m. at the church. December is set aside for a special Christmas program and a luncheon and in August the group dines out and enjoys time together. For several years, Dr. Evelyn Davis, International Training Consultant with Wycliffe Translators has shared news about her trips to the Phillipines, New Guinea, India and other places with the group during a meeting when she is in Charlotte. The Morning Circle supports her with their prayers, e-mails and monetary gifts.

The Evening Circle, with Marie Morrison as Moderator, meets in different members' homes at 7:30 p.m. The December meeting is scheduled with Amy Hicks, Central Cabarrus High School Bible Teacher, as guest speaker with a special time of fellowship following. August is their month to dine out and enjoy the fellowhip.

All women are encouraged to participate in circle meetings and other activities of Presbyterian Women. If you have questions, please contact Dee Davis, Moderator, or Harriette Jakiela, Co-Moderator, or any of the circle moderators by using the "Contact Us" e-mail address at the left or by speaking to them at the church. Visitors are always warmly welcomed!

Children's/Youth Activities

In addition to Sunday School classes at 10:00 a.m. every Sunday for all ages, there are musical and theatrical performances by the children under the leadership of Jeanne Howie, Minister of Children and Youth, and Stephanie Campbell, Choir Director.

Parties are held for the children throughout the year around special holidays.

Vacation Bible School is held for a week every summer. There are classes for each age group through 5th grade. Older youth have the opportunity to help with the children's classes and recreation.

The Joyful Ringers is a beginning bell plate choir for youth ages 4-6.
